Getting Festive

Can't believe how fast December is going by!
So much left to do to get ready for Christmas, even though we're trying to scale it back a bit this year....
I always get a late start because we have three birthdays at the end of November and beginning of December, and last weekend we had our annual Christmas party with our friends.
A couple of weeks ago Kaylen and I went to the beach to have some fun and collect some supplies to create this cute wreath. Got the idea from Jan over at Pinecone Camp.
Perfectly simple.
Been a little sick the past couple days, but hoping the rest will recharge me to get everything done without burning out!

Alright. It's decided. The first craft mission will be learning how to crochet, and hopefully crocheting something with said crochet skillzzzzzzzzzzz.
Tonight I learned how to chain. That's right. It's a rainbow chain.

Anniversary

So I just realized the blog just had its one year anniversary!
(With shamefully few posts, I might add ;)
Well, I'm working on it. Brings me back to the reason I started - an outlet for myself, a place for expression, creativity. It continues to be a struggle.
Life is good though. I have finished school and passed my certification exam, all while working full time and being a wife and mum, so I guess I'm not doing too shabby ;)
Going forth into this next year, my goals remain the same.
Try to slow down and find life's balance.
...and maybe blog more :D

Living up to my description

Where does all the time go? Finally finished school, got a job in my field already, time keeps on slippin'.... Still manage to enjoy time with the boys, but is it September already?
PS - Kaylen turned 6 - whoa. What a wicked boy.

Happy Birthday to me!

Well, it was last week actually, but I've stolen a moment to post...
I was spoiled this year. Really, really spoiled. I must have been good.
We had some friends over to celebrate and I had planned to take lots of pictures, but really only managed this one of the kabobs before they hit the BBQ. The Jack Daniels wasn't just in the sauce so the camera was put aside, unintentionally, in the name of celebrating! (next year I must designate someone else as the photographer ;)

Busy, it's a four letter word.

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

We call Kaylen the ultimate Canadian because his blood comes from all corners of the world. He embodies, in my opinion, what it is to be Canadian. All the great things the world has to offer, yet uniquely our own. So given the Chinese background, we also celebrate Chinese New Year.

Now that I've made two New Year's posts, I've been thinking about resolutions. I didn't make any per se, this year, but one concept I've been trying to corral is balance. It's a tricky, slippery creature. Working, being a mum and wife, going to school and trying to find time for myself.... The last one's the reason I started this blog, but even it's been somewhat neglected. Well, I guess it's a lifelong lesson. At least I've been going to the gym 3 times a week ;)

Ok, ok, so I'm a little late, but you know what they say...
Can't believe the holidays are over!
Lots of great memories with friends and family... busy as always. Did some great baking with Kaylen's help :)
Just took a few days to enjoy a break in Whistler with the boys - can't wait to ride again!
